Tour Pampas / Madidi / 5 Days / How to get there

The Bolivian Amazon is definitely a destination not to be missed. Especially if you love nature and you are interested in eco-tourism. The nature reserve "Madidi" is home to a myriad of wildlife and lush vegetation. The door to this National Park is the town of Rurrenabaque, which you can access by taking a flight of approximately 1 hour from La Paz, which we recommend. However, you also have the option of arriving by land, on a bus that normally takes 18 hours.  You have many options to enjoy the Madidi National Park, the Pampas Tour is a favorite of many and this is our offer of 5 days:

Day 1 Flight La Paz - Rurrenabaque. You will appreciate the incredible scenery of the highlands through the Andes with a sudden shift to the Amazon rainforest. Normally there are 3 flights a day, so start the tour to Pampas on the same day is possible depending on the availability of the flight. What we suggest is to stay in Rurrenabaque this day. The town is very charming and you better prepare for the grueling 3-day trip ahead of you. The package includes accommodation in tourist class hotel.

Day 2  We will pick you up in the morning. Get ready for a trip of about 3 hours. Our destination: The Pampas of Santa Rosa. This is a town on the river Yacuma, where you can enjoy canoe trips. The goal is to see wildlife. Do not forget to take binoculars because this area is full of beautiful birds, a variety of monkeys, turtles, alligators and even pink dolphins. If you are lucky you might even see an anaconda. Then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3 Today we have the mission to find an anaconda after breakfast. Do not panic yet. The guides are native and experts in these regions. At no time you will be exposed to the danger of these animals. During the walk, you will also see amazing alligators and other animals that will surely be part of your photo album. We will be back in camp for lunch and relax a little. Then we will go for our dinner. Yes, today we venture to fish piranhas in the river and swim with pink dolphins if the other side of the river is high enough. At night, after having dinner, you have the option of walking out with flashlights to see and focus more reptiles.

Day 4  The tour is about to come to an end, but not before one last canoe trip on the River Yacuma. We do not want to miss toucans, yellow monkeys, parrots and surprising macaws. We return to Rurrenabaque after lunch. If you wish, you can return to La Paz, but we recommend that you spend the night at the hotel in Rurrenabaque because you will probably be too exhausted to continue traveling.

Day 5 Flight Rurrenabaque - La Paz. We leave after breakfast and arrive at La Paz in 1 of the 3 scheduled flights.

The 5 days tour includes:
Roundtrip transportation (La Paz - Rurrenabaque La Paz) / meals / accommodation / native guide

It does not include:
Entrance tickets to the National Park
